March Madness: SendGrid in the News

NewsIt’s been an exciting start to 2014 at SendGrid, with new partnerships, new offices, and new sending milestones to celebrate! March proved to be a busy month, so here’s a short highlight reel:

There’s No “I” in Scale

A principal benefit that SendGrid offers is scalability—we help our customers seamlessly grow their businesses without having to worry about the cost and complexity of maintaining an in-house infrastructure. The cool thing is, while our customers are scaling…so are we!

It was just announced in the Boulder Daily Camera that in May, we’ll be moving our headquarters from Pearl Street in Boulder to a more accommodating space just down the way on Walnut Street. The move comes as VentureBeat just announced that we’ve surpassed sending 200 billion non-spam emails for our 150,000+ awesome customers. They equated it to sending almost as many emails as McDonald’s has sold hamburgers.

We’re excited to be scaling alongside our customers and to be learning from each other along the way. To share the lessons that we’ve learned on our journey to 200 billion emails, we’re going to cities across North America on our SendGrid Delivered email tour.

SendGrid Delivered is a free email boot camp that shares all of the email deliverability and scaling tips that we’ve learned over the past few years. The tour starts in NYC on April 15th and we’d love it if you’d join us. Learn about upcoming tour stops at sendgriddelivered.com.

Remember Your Roots

Even though we’re moving our headquarters, we’re only re-locating a few blocks within our beloved Boulder. SendGrid planted our roots here as part of the TechStars program (under our “pre-SendGrid name,” SMTPAPI) and we’re happy to be continuing to grow with them in this incredible tech community.

We think Kelly Tidd from Your Boulder.com best summed up what it means to be a Boulder-based company in her recent profile of SendGrid by saying:

SendGrid’s concept is a technical interpretation of the culture that exists in the Boulder startup scene. Empower the little guys. Give them the support they need to make it big and when they do, be proud that you were there for them when they first began and use that newfound clout to help even more small businesses get off the ground.

Thanks Kelly! And thanks to the Boulder community for being such a great home for us over the past 4+ and for remaining to be so for years to come!

Success is a Team Effort

Creating the next great app takes a lot or work—why do it alone? We have some amazing partners at SendGrid, who are all helping our customers take their businesses to the next level. One of these partners is DNS Made Easy.

Last month, we were very happy to announce this new partnership. Now, SendGrid customers who choose to host DNS with DNS Made Easy can whitelabel their mail and quickly accept email into their applications using our Incoming Parse Webhook. With this new partnership, DNS Made Easy customers will get their email programs up and running even faster.

Speaking of easing development pain points, Adam DuVander, SendGrid’s Director of Developer Communications, recently contributed an article to The Next Web about just that. How can you leverage existing resources to help you build your app, so you don’t have to start from scratch? Adam has the answer. With the Pareto Principle serving as his inspiration, Adam suggests,

Apps and cloud services already do 80 percent of what your application needs, so leverage that ecosystem to focus in on the 20 percent of “magic” that you can call your own.

To learn more about how this applies to your app and to the API economy at large, check out Adam’s piece The Rise of the API Economy and Consumer-led Ecosystems…or (shameless plug ahead) come see Adam speak on the SendGrid Delivered tour.

We’re excited to share these latest announcements with you and hope that you’ll:

A) come visit us in our new Boulder office in May

B) explore our diverse partnerships

C) visit us on the road at SendGrid Delivered!
