SendGrid’s CEO, Jim Franklin recently sat down with Brent Weaver, CEO of online guru community, uGurus, to discuss SendGrid’s growth and the lessons he’s learned over the past few years.
I’ve had the pleasure of hearing Jim speak in a variety of forums over the past year and a half—mostly at SendGrid via our weekly “All Hands” meetings or at his frequent “Camp SendGrid” sessions where he walks team members through SendGrid’s guiding principles and our roadmap.
What’s different about this latest interview is its focus on actionable advice for founders looking to grow their business. Jim and Brent cover a lot of ground in their chat, from how to run a meeting and how to balance multiple office locations, to how a game of paintball can mend fissures between technical and non-technical employees.
Amidst all of that, there were 5 nuggets of advice from Jim that really stood out to me. I’ve grouped them into two categories: Growth & Scale and Persistence & Perspective, shared below. I hope these make you think you a bit, as they did for me.
