Udall Partners with API Hackday Denver, Denver Startup Week to Empower Developers to Create Apps, Resources for Flood Victims
Mark Udall, a strong proponent of Colorado’s innovation economy and startup community, announced today he will partner with API Hackday Denver to host a competition this Saturday that challenges developers, innovators and startups to develop better tools to deliver disaster resources and information to Coloradans affected by the recent flood. The event, part of Denver Startup Week, will leverage private sector innovation to improve the ongoing disaster-relief effort.
“Colorado is home to some of the most innovative and entrepreneurial people in the nation,” Udall said. “Our startup community has done great work to create jobs and keep Colorado at the forefront of the global economic race, but they are also committed to civic innovation. This competition shows that our best and brightest are eager to give back and to help their fellow Coloradans recover from this disaster and to rebuild even stronger than before.”
“SendGrid and the API Hackday crew are super excited to partner with Senator Udall, in an effort to put our minds together to solve real problems facing our fellow community members, through creative uses of technology,” said Tim Falls, director of developer relations for SendGrid, who is leading the API Hack Day on Saturday. “We can’t wait to see what is built!”
Coloradans interested in following the event, registering or learning more, should visit https://apihackdaydenver.eventbrite.com. For more information on Denver Startup Week events, visit https://denverstartupweek.zerista.com/event.
The competition Udall is co-hosting will start at 8 a.m. at SendGrid’s Denver office, 1451 Larimer St.
Udall has been fighting since the flooding began to ensure Colorado has all the federal resources it needs to recover and rebuild. He has welcomed the release of emergency transportation funds and has pushed out disaster-relief resources to affected families and businesses. Udall also has worked to protect Coloradans from home-repair, insurance and charitable-giving fraud in the wake of the flooding.
